New Island -- After many years of mulling it over and playing around, I've developed it -- and continue to develop it -- into a real imaginary place called New Island.

New Paintings

"The Secret Cove of Longing," watercolor, 14" x 20", 2011

I've been working again from memory and photos I've taken on the California coast to create this and other new watercolors and acrylics of my favorite beaches.

New Show at Oceans and Dreams Gallery

"The Doll Buggy," graphite, 9" x 12", 1991

"Beach Sketch," watercolor and pencil, 6" x 12", 1993

My new exhibition, "Job Drawings," will open at Oceans and Dreams Gallery on June 1st. This is a collection of small and large preparatory drawings for various paintings done from 1990 to 2010. I created these drawings for clients or for my own larger paintings when I needed a clear idea of what the finished painting might look like. They are mostly graphite; some are full size (up to 30" x 40"), but most are smaller sketches. I have not exhibited these drawings before, but have always wanted to bring them out.

OPENING:
Wednesday Evening, June 1st, at the Oceans and Dreams Gallery (above the coffee shop at 127 W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna), and will continue through August 2011.
