OCEANS AND DREAMS

The art of Lee Mothes

Original Drawings

Drawing is a wonderful and intimate way to get close to a subject and to learn all its subtle details.  I enjoy the process of drawing and can more easily see the composition and the movement and effects of light in a new subject than if I try to paint it right away.  A drawing is all light-and-dark, no color.  Waves seem to have endless layers of pattern, detail, light reflection and movement -- and they change so fast!  I also love to render clouds, landforms, and the figure in pencil.
